<p>Eat Healthy – Cut out salt and sugar, or limit their consumption to near-zero levels. Keep carbohydrates to the bare minimum. Avoid protein/calorie-rich junk foods and carbonated/caloric drinks. <p>What Are Body Wraps?</p>
<p>To start with, body wraps are not just the outer linen, plastic or thermal blankets that spa therapists wrap around their clients. They are part of a holistic process or treatment which includes application of various ingredients to all areas of the body. The ingredients used for such applications include anything from algae, butter, creams, clay and chocolate, to eucalyptus herbs, lotions, mud and seaweed. Once completed, this part of the process is also referred to as “body masks”. </p>
<p>What Are They Used For? </p>
<p>Body wraps are used for a variety of reasons, the most popular and prominent among them being weight loss. Although their effectiveness and multiple end applications are still the subject of much debate, body wraps are also widely used for achieving healthy skin quality; cellulite removal/control; detoxification; and as a means to look slimmer and feel better.     </p>
<p>How Do They Work?</p>
<p>“How do they work?” is a question that some people often ask, given the continuing debate about the efficacy of this unconventional weight loss treatment. Body wraps work by melting excess fat, removing toxins, and reducing <strong><a href="http://www.weightlossforanyone.info/blog/2010/09/08/why-water-is-important-for-healthy-weight-loss/">water</a></strong> weight through sweating (read process below).  However, to understand how body wraps really work, it will help to learn about the typical body wrap process which therapists/masseurs conduct in general, although some techniques and ingredients may vary from one spa to the next. </p>
<p>Here is a general example of the step-by-step process:</p>
<p>Step 1: The client is made to lie down on a sheet of linen or plastic, a towel, or a special thermal blanket/suit.<br />
Step 2: The skin is then exfoliated with the help of a salt scrub or dry brushing.<br />
Step 3: Specific ingredients are then applied to the body (some specified above)<br />
Step 4: Once the application (“body masking”) is completed, the body is then completely wrapped with the covering on which he/she lies. For slimming/weight loss treatment, smaller strips of covering material are used. These are wrapped very tightly around flabby or cellulite-affected areas of the body and the person is advised to wait for approximately 30 min. However, durations may vary from spa to spa. It is during this interval when the heat generated between the skin and the wrap makes the patient sweat profusely. This helps to melt extra fat, <strong><a href="http://www.detoxdietsecrets.com/?hop=wl4anyone">expel toxins</a></strong>, and reduce water weight, giving the client a slimmer and more toned look.<br />
Step 5: The body wrap is removed and the client may either take a shower, or have the skin mask rinsed by the therapist using a handheld shower.<br />
Step 6: After drying off, the skin is generally moisturized with a good lotion.</p>
<p>Remember, Body wraps are inadvisable for people who are claustrophobic. Moreover, some of the ingredients used may be unsuitable for your skin. So, before you try this treatment, do consult a good physician, dermatologist, fitness trainer or a qualified spa therapist.   </p>
