The Real Truth On How To Diet For Fast Weight Loss

Do you want to know the truth about diets? All balanced diets work. Limit fats, avoid fried foods, eat your vegetables, cut out sweets, they all say basically the same thing. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you’ll lose weight.
Another truth? Dieting isn’t just a matter of limiting calories. It’s learning how to eat good foods, foods that won’t rob you of nutrients, foods that your body requires.
A third truth is that filling up at a meal is not as wise as it seems. For some reason, our bodies don’t register that they’re full until about twenty minutes and a long drink of water have passed.
All three truths lead up to one easy-to-follow plan: Eat frequently. Enjoy about five or six meals a day. If you’re eating every three to four hours, you limit cravings, and it’s the cravings that kill a diet, not the diet itself.
Always eat breakfast. You don’t need to eat breakfast as soon as you awaken, but certainly within the first two hours you need to have eaten something. Just keep it light.
Bring food with you to work. While everyone else is looking at the clock, waiting for their lunch break, you eat, even if you must eat at your desk. An apple is fine, but an apple with a slice of cheese or a handful of nuts is better. That little bit of added protein holds back the hunger pangs.
Eat lunch. Again, make it a light meal such as a lentil salad. A sandwich made with two slices of bread is too heavy for most dieters. Besides, you need four to six servings of vegetables to meet your nutritional needs, so eat salad whenever you can.
But you don’t get off work until five, and then you drive home, not getting home before six, which makes supper late. You can solve this problem by thinking ahead. Just before you go home, while you’re still at work, say around three o’clock, grab a handful of almonds or a bit of homemade trail mix. Homemade trail mix with dark chocolate chips, raisins and nuts is a terrific mid-afternoon snack, and it bites back those hunger pangs. Then when you eat that late supper, you aren’t eating too much.
If you’re on a balanced diet, you can eat in the evening. Have a piece of fruit with some cottage cheese. It’s much better for you than cake, cookies or chips. Besides, you’re on a diet, and those things aren’t in your house, remember?
Now you’ve eaten six meals, you’re not starving all the time, and all the food that you’ve chosen are good for you. You can feel pleased with yourself that you not only followed your diet, but you nipped the hunger monster in the bud. It won’t be around to tempt you to eat too much at one sitting because you’ve eliminated the temptation by eating frequently.
