Why It Is Important To Add Weight Training To Your Exercise Regiment

These days, working out is all about weight loss and abs. Everyone wants a hot, lean six pack. However, you don’t want to neglect any aspect of getting in shape. If you look at photos of body builders from the fifties and sixties, they typically had massive upper bodies… And stick thin legs. So they could lift the front end of a car over their heads, but they would get winded just running half a block. You need to be well rounded, and that includes cardio, watching your cholesterol, and, of course, weight training. Here’s why it is important to add weight training to your exercise regiment…

For Improved Strength

Whether or not you want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, improved strength always helps, whether you’re a man or a woman. Simply put, you want to be able to carry all your groceries into the house without asking for help. You want to be able to open heavy doors without grunting your way through the process. Improved strength is always helpful no matter who you are, or what you’re doing. At the very least, you’ll be able to feel the difference in your body after working out, rather than merely seeing it.

For Better Stamina

The stronger you are, the longer you can go in the gym. If you want to be able to do a hundred crunches every morning, you won’t get there without a little bit of weight training. If you want to be able to run a mile in six minutes flat, you need to work out your entire body. If you build massive muscle, your body will actually get much heavier and might even slow you down, but building nice, lean, tight muscle can only possibly help you last longer and go harder when you’re at the gym.

For a Better Body

Even after you lose all that extra weight, you still want to tone your body and beef up the parts that need beefing up. This will make you healthier and give you a better all around look. Many people simply lose weight and wind up with that sort of “Ninety Pound Weakling” look, and they wind up going to the beach and getting sand kicked in their faces by musclebound clods. If you want to look and feel better all around, you need to lose weight, exercise your cardiovascular system, and build some muscle.

To Look Good

When you lose a lot of weight fast, you get that unfortunate side effect of loose skin and, sometimes, stretch marks. This can be reduced or avoided altogether by replacing all of that extra fat with some extra muscle. If you’re looking for a leaner build, you probably don’t want to build twenty four inch pythons, but you should at least take some time to hit the five and ten pound weights so that you can be more than skin and bones. You don’t want to be super skinny, you want to be in shape, and that includes nice, strong muscle. Remember, not everyone is fit for various exercise regiments. It’s always advisable to check with your Health Care Provider before beginning any exercise program.
