4 Simple Tips To Keep The Weight Off

When you get in shape, it can be very easy to consider the finish line crossed, and to simply start slumming it again. Remember, when you get in shape, the journey’s not over. It’s like learning to play the guitar: If you just learn the chords and call it a day, then you’ll forget everything you learned in a few months. So here are 4 simple tips to keep the weight off so you can make sure your hard work didn’t go to waste.
1. Keep it Up
Luckily, keeping the weight off won’t require such drastic measures or as demanding a workout routine as you practiced while trying to lose the weight, but you can’t just turn on your lazy switch now. You need to keep doing your crunches, keep walking around the block. You can have some sweets now and then, but you need to stick to the healthy diet you had when trying to lose the weight in the first place. This is especially true if you’re a habit eater. You don’t want a relapse, so make sure that you don’t give in to weakness or laziness.
2. Watch Out For Extra Pounds
Typically, your weight will go up a pound or two here and there. Nobody stays at one exact weight consistently. However, if you notice a gain of five pounds or more, you need to put yourself in check for the next week or two and make sure that you’re not falling back into the same habits. Get those extra five pounds off, don’t wait for the problem to get out of hand. You don’t need to obsess, don’t fret, just make sure to check your weight, say, once a week or so. In the morning, after you use the facilities but before you shower (your skin actually absorbs a bit of water that can throw your weight off), so you can make sure you’re getting an accurate reading.
3. Keep Your Fiber Up
Staying regular can really help to keep off those extra pounds. You got to keep your colon clean. Honestly, you can forget all that colonic therapy stuff. If you’re not suffering from some debilitating constipation, all you really need is plenty of fiber. This will help to keep your stomach lean and flat, and you won’t retain any waste that can throw your weight off when you step on the scale.
4. Walk, Don’t Drive
If you feel like getting a diet soda from your local supermarket, three blocks away… Just walk. Now that you’re in good shape, the hard part is over, but you still need to live an active, healthy lifestyle in order to keep your body the way you like it. Spend a little less time in front of the TV each day, walk instead of driving, drink more water and less soda. You know the drill. You don’t need to be one of those fitness nuts who spends eight hours a day working out and refuses to so much as ever eat a single slice of cake at birthday parties, but you don’t want to fall into the same old habits. More water, less idling, stay active and eat well, and your body should stay within a weight range you’re comfortable with.
