Remember those old songs that got you moving back in the day; blow off the dust on those albums, get that turn player going and have a little fun. There’s nothing quiet like reliving the good old days then with a little classic rock n’ roll. This is a great tip on losing unwanted pounds and adding a little exercise into your daily routines. Consider turning your living room into a dance floor, joining a club or organization that has routine dances for baby boomers, or even taking a few dance lessons-ball room dance is a big favorite among baby boomers these days.

Another great tip on losing unwanted pounds for baby boomers, join a YMCA that offers swimming or exercise equipment. Most baby boomers will find that local YMCA’s will offer discounted packages for those over a certain baby boomer age- get some friends together and make it a group event. Local YMCA’s many times have special hours for baby boomers’, as well as, special aerobic, swim, and exercise programs available for their specific age group.

Grandkids are wonderful means for losing unwanted pounds; they also make you constantly smile and feel much younger than you are. Regardless of their age or yours, you can find something fun and physical you could do together. Think basketball, walks in the park, a fun day at the amusement park, or even the local playground. If you enjoy golf or tennis; make their day by asking them to join you in a day of fun and exercise.

Eating habits for baby boomers are also important when it comes to losing pounds. Remember the food groups when you were a school kid; keep them in mind while you’re grocery shopping, as well. Although, the food pyramid has changed a bit since your school days- it’s still basically a good guide to healthy eating. Your best bet is to keep your grains whole and your dairy low fat; as well as, your meats lean. Also keep in mind that most people only have 100-300 calories per day for allowances; that includes sweets, oils, dressings, and fattening meats and dairy. If you follow the recommended diet for your sex, age group, and physical activity level according to the USDA; you’re sure to lose those extra pounds in no time.

There’s no better time like the present to start living a better life; after all, you’ve made it through the hard years- now, it’s time to enjoy. Do the fun activities that you always wanted to do, disguise exercise as daily routines; and by all means keep yourself balanced with great foods. By incorporating these tips into your lifestyle; you’ll see a much healthier and skinnier you.
